Saddly this last episode of Snow and ice has meant that for the second year running it has been very difficult to get to the dexters and keep them supplied with water. The trough has been freezing solid for days on end and the hills between us and the field have been leathal to get the landrover over. We have managed it but have decided that they are going to have to be sold and we will just keep sheep on the land in future so there will be less water to transport.
We can manage for the rest of this winter but thought I would start to advertise the cows now in-case someone is looking to expand their herd or wants to start out with dexters.
We have a very amicable and friendly cow (coming up to 7 years old) due to calve late May with her fifth calf. A heifer calf at foot from last year and if wanted a heifer from two years ago that is easy to see bulling and is quiet like her mother (we will put her to beef if not sold with her mum).
We also have a dexter crush that could be sold with them or seperatly after they have gone.
We are not in a hurry to sell and I can keep them until Pumpkin calves again if needed, a good home is the most important thing.
Will sort out some decent pictures for the for sale section.
They would make an ideal starter herd as they are a very placid (usually) little herd.
