Abattoirs and horned cattle

I have just got my Ark and I noticed that they are fighting a new ruling that the government have given abattoirs the option to refuse to slaughter horned cattle on safety grounds and apparently according to the Ark many are already refusing to take them, as quite a few of the rare breeds are horned them the will have the rare breed society on their side, however I can see this affecting anyone with dexters who do not dehorn their cattle and maybe its worth these people checking with the Dexter society to see if they are on the case as I hadn’t seen anything about this until I got my ark. Another bit of government legislation sneaked in by the back.

I was talking to the state vet at our abattoir about this last week. HIs opinion is that this would be an unworkable situation. Where would all the present horned cattle go?! To take the horns off animals prior to slaughter is surely a welfare issue.
We all know the lack of co-ordination of governmant policies, such as :setting up the fallen stock scheme but trying to stop the Hunt Kennels from existence; telling farmers to sell their produce direct to the public but closing most of the small abattoirs etc etc.

Beryl Rutherford mentioned that it is a possiblity that dehorning/ disbudding may be outlawed by European law, like docking of tails in dogs etc ( or words to that effect - sorry, Beryl, I hope I haven't totally misquoted you due to my over worked memory!) I can quite believe this scenario occuring.
Many may frown on the polled dexters, but they will certainly have their benefits.
