I am fairly sure it would have been Beryl's birthday today.

Yes Tim - you are right, Margaret and I have been remembering her via email. I am missing my visit with cake, chocolate and camera. Camera being the most important as I would take the photos and sent them on a disc so that she could sit at the computer and view her lovely Dexters.

Its nice to be remembering
But it IS sad that we have to "only" be remembering

- I will have a cake and a cuppa today in her memory!

This a a pic of Woodmagic Petrel, a lovely old cow that used to be quite a favourite of Beryls. I think of Beryl every morning when I see Petrel standing in my field, I always had a soft spot for her too and she never failed to feature in the photos I took when I visited Bunksland. So I took this photo to share with you.

It is lovely to have her and I am delighted that she has become so quiet and friendly, even allowing me to stroke her head, amazing since she is now 12 years old, she is giving me a great deal of pleasure BUT I would much rather be making that trip to Devon to visit Beryl and take my camera!

Please ignore the copious thistles we are way behind with the topping this year.

Stephanie, today my daughter Frances and I had lunch with 82yo John Thompson and his wife Margaret, in the Vikings Club in Canberra.
John is a now a life member, but was earlier the first president of what is now Dexter Cattle Australia Inc.
Co-incidentally, I told them the story of how you went back to rescue Petrel after you had previously collected your Wm contingent.

I can't believe now that I needed a push from you to go and buy her Margaret - I was genuinely concerned that she would be quite wild once she got her home. Aren't I lucky someone else didn't buy her while I was making up my mind!

Stephanie, she is an absolute treasure. So glad she has also proved to be a pleasure.
Margaret.
