I know this topic has probably been discussed before but does the 6 day standstill still apply to show movements? I know that we have a 'show licence' which means that I have to keep the cattle separate for 6 days. If there is a show on one day andthen another two or three days later, can I take the same cattle to the second show? I have tried negotiating DEFRA website but as usual it is a minefield of info. I am guessing that I can take other dexters to the second show. If anyone has a quick answer then please let me know.

Hi Natasha
To enable you to gain excemption from the 6 day standstill you will need to apply to DEFRA for an " On Farm Isolation Facility " if you are able to isolate your show animals, keep them completely seperate from all other stock and are able to comply with all of DEFRA's requirements for such.
A DEFRA Vet will have to visit & inspect your premises and facilities (which are fairly extensive) and if approved show animals can then go to & from shows without having to observe the 6 day standstill.
Once the show animals return to the main herd the standstill is then triggered for the whole herd.
If you would like some contact details and or help with forms PM me.

Thnaks for that, I thought it was the case that if you had isolation facilities then we can move them but my husband was just querying it with me and I couldn't fully remember. Had the vet out last year to approve the isolation pen so no problems there. My memory is obviously not good!
