I've spoken to at least a couple of professional, life-time farmers over the past few months who have now chosen to go into Dexters (both for beef in these instances). I don't know how much that used to happen in prior years but I think it's great to see and makes me feel I'm not so much out on a limb. Maybe one day, you will see them at normal markets going for normal prices. And the last one I spoke to chose them so he could grass-finish to get that special flavour. There are some forward-thinking farmers out there.

The baby heifer I sold at York was bought by a Simmental breeder for his 8 yr old grandson, as the Sims are too big for the boy to handle. He's planning on taking the boy & heifer showing next year, so may end up a convert!

No, not for the kids, for their business.

All my neighbours take the p**s out of me for having these little cows. they dont understand that sometimes less is more.

but when they want beef for a special occasion they all come for dexter, they all know its good beef.
it makes me laugh, it seems that dexter are only good enough for eating! what must their cattle be good for?
