foot trimming

A general question...when is the best time for foot trimming? Before they come in for the winter or after when they go out?

For me, when it's convenient and the time is right calving-wise. I am about to go through our whole herd this week because just some need doing, but most are 5 months pregnant. So if I leave it any longer they'll either be a lot more pregnant and we won't be able to do them, or they'll have young calves at foot, so I'm getting it out of the way. They are outside at the moment and will go back out.

I hate to see them walking around with flat feet on soft straw bedding.
