Any users from the Republic of Ireland (Eire to some) will be aware that the rural environmental scheme 4 has now been closed.
The Dep of Agriculture has promised a new scheme in early 2010 which will be "measure based"
I would urge any Irish members to lobby their political representatives to ensure that any new scheme would incorporate provisions for native breeds as in REPS 4
Thanks

The Dep of Agriculture have provisionally included a genetic diversity option in the proposed new scheme which has been sent to Brussels.they have looked for submissions which should be sent to repspolicy@agriculture.gov.ie.
I would urge anyone interested in the continued recent success of native breeds in the republic of ireland to make a submission of support for this measure.

Thank you for the good information. Is there a web page where we can see the proposals sent to Brussels before we make a submission?
All three Irish cattle breed organisations should be responding, preferably presenting a united front.

Thank you Pudser that link worked. I have made a submission in my official capacity for Irish Moiled which also included Dexter. If you or any other member wishes to see a copy e-mail me at ian@pennielea-farm.co.uk
It would be too large a document to post on here and besides I do not know how.
