we have just purchased two yearling heifer calfes the sire was a pedigree dexter but the dams were dexter non pedigree can i regester them as pedigree and if so how do i do it?

Short and sweet, no you cannot register them.
if the mothers are birth nofified then it might be possible, but the DCS registration police would require a lottery win to cover it.

It would be best if you contact the breed secretary on 02476 692300
It is true it is not easy to register your heifers but they may be acceptable through the appendix system into the herdbook. An expense of a lottery win may not be required and it would indeed be a couple of generations before the offspring were full pedigree.
With hidsight it may have been quicker and cheaper in the longrun to have bought pedigree if thats where you wanted to end up.
