Hi all, I have just been advised by Herts county show that they have had to cancel the Dexter classes this year due to lack of entries which is a great shame.
If anyone is in the right bluetongue area (protection zone) and would like to come along I am sure they would be open to late entries or at least I would hope that they would be!
Our three little Dexters are now up against all the other Native breeds so wish us luck & hope to see a few more Dexters on the day.

Hi Natasha
I was going to go; but have opted for the vaccinations which if all is to be believed will arrive around 20th May it is then 30 days until the second jab and then a further 30 days before they can move.
If the vaccines are late then I have 5 who could go
Good luck

Hi Natasha, i am administering the judges appointments for the society at the moment and i am led to beleive that Herts show don't usually appoint a dexter judge, (they use other breed judges), and the turnout for dexters is year on year is a bit hit and miss. Bluetongue therefore may have made little difference to the dexter turnout.
We are showing at Leicester on 4/5th May and the cattle numbers are well down but the dexter numbers are holding up to last years attendence, which is really pleasing. They are allowing last minute entries as well so that may help to boost numbers.
Lets hope the sun has decided to shine by then!

Good Luck at Leicester. We were due to attend as we thoroughly enjoyed it last year but it is the childrens May Day fete that day and as it is Jennys last year at the school we felt we should go. jenny is of course not happy and would rather be showing her beloved Dexters! Def. going to Leicester show in 2009 though. Heres hoping for dry weather as I remember camping there last year!

Yes, its that time of year again. Herts show is this weekend and for a change the forecast is dry and sunny, I can't believe it after last years downpour. I had to buy my son some new trousers last year as he was so wet! Nice to see a proper Dexter judge this year also, well done Mark! Just hope that we have the entries to support the classes. No camping as the show is just over an hour from us so less to pack! Good Luck to anyone that has entered.
