Hello jem,
In dairying it was always considered that she was an in calf heifer until she calved, then simply a heifer whilst in milk but some called her a 1st calver. They could still be called a heifer by some people until they had the 2nd calf, when she would be a 2nd calver and I have continued that on with my Dexters but it doesn't mean I am right! Everyone has seemed to understand me though which I thought was a good sign - until I read your post! ???

I have always considered a heifer to remain so until she has her second calf.
