GOING ON HOLIDAY IN JULY TO EDGE OF SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK ,I WOULD BE GRATEFUL OF PLACES OF INTEREST TO VISIT ,EITHER AGICULTURAL,HISTORICAL OR NATURAL BEAUTY . I DONT KNOW THIS AREA AT ALL SO IT'S ALWAYS NICE TO HAVE PLACES RECOMMENDED. I HAVE GOT A FEW BROCHURES SENT FROM THE WELSH TOURIST BOARD WHICH SEEM QUITE GOOD.REGARDS TIM Z

We're on the Welsh borders. Machynlleth (pronounced muh-hunth-thleth) is nice itself as is Dolgellau (pronounced dol-geth-lee). Am I about to be corrected by a Welshman one wonders?

It's all beautiful up there especially going north and towards the coast. Snowdonia is a marvellous place, if the weather's good the scenery is terrific. But if it's wet it isn't! You can park at the top of Llanberis Pass and walk to the base of Snowdon (quite a long walk but very easy and dogs OK on leads). Or just drive up and through the Llanberis pass. Or some of the other routes around there.

Don't know about much else like culture because we used to go just for the walking, climbing and the scenery.

On the coast we quite like Aberdovey. Massive beaches, boats, a small harbour and a nice little break. Caernarfon (Welsh spelling) has a splendid castle (or is it a walled city, can't remember) if you're into those.

Try a full welsh breakfast, it's similar to an English but with seaweed and cockles added.
