our old Dulcie must have heard about Di's comments on muscovy ducks eating the blue tongue midges, she has found her own personal midge eater, whenever Dulcie is out in the field the canada goose will leave the rest of the flock and stays by her side until Dulcie comes in. sorry its a bit fuzzy but this picture pasting is a new venture, Bill.

OH DEAR WHAT A MESS WITH THE TOPIC TITLE IT SHOULD READ 'UNUSUAL COMPANIONS' the rest of the title is gobbledegook only the computor knows how it got there.

Is the flock of Canada geese there by invitation or just gatecrashers? We have a couple here who are the latter and I really don't want them to turn into a flock even if they do eat the midges. But clever Dulcie obviously a lady who believes in taking care of things herself. Well done her.

The goose came from Hereford Market, no one wanted it so Bill bought it for a stupid price,intended for the pot ,but as you see the canny old thing has made itself indispensable..our other geese are Chinese and a motly collection of the farmyard type who lay wonderful huge eggs and act as guard dogs. We once had a Canada gander that fell in love with a female sheep who was originally a pet lamb and always stayed around home. the problem started when Lucy lambed as the gander would not allowed the lamb any where near its mum, so he had to be removed to pastures new.
