Latest from NBA -
Will come in 20ml and 50ml bottles.
Wholesale price £22.02 for 50ml. £13.10 for 20ml.
On farm price - £27.50-£33.00 for 50ml [55-65p per dose] and £16.13-£19.65 for 20ml. [82-98p per dose].
Dosage will probably be 1x1ml for sheep and 2x2ml for cattle.
Duncan, do you know what the interval between first and second dose is and how long before immunity after second dose for cattle and why sheep are going to need one dose only to have immunity?
Thanks
Di

Sorry Di, I don't really have much info myself yet, and have not been worrying too much since hopefully we will not be using any of it for some time here. That is the first prices I have seen. One of my concerns is that it is got to all of you in the danger areas soon enough to be effective before virus begins to circulate.
Please remember any of you who may wish to export stock that vets may need to have given the vaccine themselves or to have actually supervised the vaccination in order to be able to sign the necessary paperwork. I know that will not affect many but some may be concerned with such things.

Chris and I went to a very good talk given by our local vet the other night.
We learnt a good deal about the signs of BT and he reminded us about good vaccination techniques like not leaving it in a hot car while we have lunch!
He mentioned this site www.ruma.org.uk/ useful if anyone else feels they need reminding about anything at all to do with vaccinating of animals or birds.
The Meat council kindly informed us about ectoparasites and most importantly fed us afterwards! :D

Quote from news:
EU - The European Commission today received the backing of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health to adopt a draft Decision approving the emergency vaccination plans of certain Member States against Bluetongue and the first instalment of the Community financial contribution for these plans of up to €72.5 million.
Vaccination is the most efficient veterinary measure that can be used to fight bluetongue and to achieve the objectives of reducing the loss of animals, containing the spread of the disease, protecting bluetongue-free territories in Member States and facilitating the safe trade in live animals. The Commission's financial contribution will support emergency vaccination plans against bluetongue in the Member States at a rate of 100% of the vaccine's supply cost and 50% of the costs incurred while carrying out the vaccination, up to certain ceilings (€0.6 per vaccine dose purchased, €2 per vaccinated cattle and €0.75 per vaccinated sheep or goat).
