hello everyone.

i am now at the stage where all my cows are about the same age and would like to purchase a few more. i would like short red or black heifers preferably no horns. needn't be halter trained just quiet as i have a young son and another on the way so i don't want difficult to handle cows. incalf would be ideal but not essential. i live in south west and would prefer not to travel long distances. so if anyone can fill this long list of requirements, let me know. can't do e-mails at the moment as computer is not allowing them but will keep an eye on this discussion board. many thanks everyone and look forward to hearing from you

How about having a cattle "wanted" section in dextercattleforsale?

strawberriesclint - I've got 2 very small ones but I'm in Shrops. Have a look at the main dexter cattle website
www.dextercattle.co.uk and look at "cattle for sale" and phone around.

Umm, Clive, there is a wanted section already isn't there? Or did I imagine it?

We bought the 3 in the pictures in "Weather Again" by putting an advert in the wanted section on this site, it was brilliant!

Click the last link on the left to see the wanted section.

Hi Strawberries
We are in Cornwall and may have what you are looking for.We have a number of short heifers (nearly all are black). The oldest was born April '05 and ran with our red (non-short) bull from 24/7/05 to 27/12/07. The next ones were born from 21/9/05 and ran with the bull between roughly the same dates. If you would like to find out more about us, e-mail me at e.letcher@btinternet.com., or post a reply here.
Regards
Liz

Dexters breeding seems to be attracting far more credibility, in this region of Australia at least, now that we are known to be breeding non-carrier, and away from intentional breeding of a lethal genetic deformity.

Regular farmers now treat us like regular farmers also, even though our normal cows are no taller than dwarfs. 'The long-leg' doesn't necessarily have to have long legs, and they are not so prone to arthritis in later life.

In my unasked-for opinion, of course, but just a thought for consideration.
