Hi

2 of my friends have moved to Hereford and their local pub the Bell had a full week of different dishes of Dexter beef on the menu before Christmas. Just wondered if any one on the board supplied them with it or do they have their own dexters?

just think if we could get all our local pubs doing that it would be excellent for the breed.
:)

BTW I was invited out to a hot supper the other night and guess what my host had on the menu? my dexter beef and I didn't take any leaflets :( :(

That's sort of my neck of woods but not guilty. I don't sell to pubs but I'd like to when I've got enough coming through, as long as they take whole sides and pay their bill on delivery. If people want to supply pubs, it might take more than just one farm because one pub could use quite a lot and they need regular supply.

If I was supplying, it would be at about £8.50 a kilo, or more, fully butchered and delivered.

Perhaps it was Tony & Jackie Limb from Sollershope, Hereford?

Clive - Rob & I recently attended a meeting for farmers producing & marketing their own beef and I will always remember the speaker telling us not to oversupply customers -especially pubs. Remember, they do have other food on their menu's.

We have found that the chefs we are dealing with are happy to take one animal every four weeks/per month. I've got them into a system & it seems to work. Upon delivery chefs are advised when their next animal will be slaughtered & approx delivery date.
