May 2008 be a very good year for you all and I'm bagsing at least 50% heifers this year coming. We're anticipating 19 calves in 2008 and I sure don't want to ring 11 bull calves like we're having to do at the moment. ??? I know practice makes perfect, but I wouldn't mind a few more years to spread that practice over. :;):

May Spring and Summer in 2008 bring those of you in the UK, a lot more sun than you got in 2007.

Happy New Year!!!!!

May i wish every member who has contributed in every way to this discussion board a happy new year.
It has its critics, especially those that dont even view it, but upwards and onwards into 2008 we go, and may it go from strenght to strenght spreading the dexter word, worldwide.
I would also add a special new year wish to my collegues on the steering committee,.......it can only get better!

A Happy and prosperous New Year to everyone, and a special thanks to you Mark for providing this excellent medium which has given so much pleasure to so many, and has certainly added to my knowledge both of Dexters and a variety of other subjects.

Good luck to all in this new year. Lets all hope that the trials of the past few months are behind us and 2008 brings a new dawn for our Society, old wounds are healed and our small cows become the centre of attention again.

Inger, my first calf of the year this morning and it's a bull. I would have liked a heifer but never mind. Other people have been eagerly anticipating his arrival as large parts of him have been bagsied as beef before he even arrived!

A belated Happy New Year to all - it was 29.4 degC today and I could do with some nice cool rain showers. :)

Hi Peter currently a very chilly -3 here in Cornwall (according to metcheck) and someone has nicked all of our dexters and replaced them with woolly mamoths!

I had 2 girls due to calve before the new year and both hung on until midnight last night,
2 little very wick heifers, mums and offspring are all well, owner is having an early night tonight, that is 3 heifers in a row, males are getting a bit scarce around here, these days as last year all my early calves except one where heifers. It did make me wonder how Clive is getting on with his outside calvers, my cows where very happy to be tucked up in nice warm boxes, especially as we woke up to a cold wet winter wonderland this morning.

best wishes to everyone for 2008 and may your calves be healthy and hopefully trouble free

:) :)
