This is a message for all you other small minded people who regularly use this site for gossiping and tittle tattling (which also might be seen as exchanging information, trying to make sense of things, sharing sorrows and happiness all for the benefit of our Dexters).
Don't you just love people who presumeably monitor (and gain from) these exchanges but can't be bothered to actually get involved unless they have something to complain about.
Bless

We all owe a great debt of gratitude to Mark for making the message-board available for what is on the whole constructive discussion. Bearing in mind it is open to ‘Joe Public’, it is a pity that one or two contributions step out of line, and use it for name blaming. More is likely to be achieved if we keep personalities out of it, unless it is to offer a bouquet.

I monitor and use the site regularly, but dont contribute very often, but I do have something to complain about, its all the fault of Caroline and Clive at Broomcroft,we are being overwhelmed with orders for Dexter beef,if Caroline hadnt done so well with her recipe we could have jogged along selling the odd steer,...but now we are sizing up every thing on four legs,...offer her a bouquet Beryl,....she can have the whole flower shop. Hear Hear! We sell Dexter beef at Farmers Markets and have had so many new customers because of the cookery programme. Long may it continue. Thank you.

Sylvia, what some people do not realise is that democracy and free speech can sometimes bite your bum.

You're talking about new business because of the TV programme. It will die back of course, but it should only die back to a higher base level hopefully. And it gives us a little more of a platform to do someting else from in the future instead if a pretty blank piece of paper.
How about this as well. I get web statistics every day. As you would expect, searches for Dexter have gone up from almost nothing to the most looked for beef on the web by miles (at the moment). But here's the fascinating bit (well to me anyway!), searches for Kobe, which are always higher than any other, have dropped dramatically.
In the last period I looked at, Dexter was 3 times as great as Kobe.
The power of TV. Awesome!
It's very nice of people to say thank you, but in reailty, it's people like Beryl Rutherford and all the other breeders who kept the breed going who are the "heros".
If you think about it, Caroline went on TV and cooked a Dexter Pie. What the chefs said about the beef was everything we could possibly dream of. If you had paid thousands of pounds for an advert, they could not have done it so well. The reason, and the ONLY reason they said what they said, is because the beef actually is fantastic.
A lot of competitors went on the TV with lots of other ingredients and no-one I saw had any special response to the actual ingredients or not on the scale that our beef had. I am putting clips on the web when I can because it really is worth seeing.

You are far too modest Clive. I gave the breed a little push in the right direction many years ago. Today you are a magnificent help, providing expertise in modern technology. In today’s climate even a first class product can only succeed with good advertising to promote it. Your remarks about the eclipse of Kobe meat underlines your grasp of the subject, so many would sit back on their laurels and let the success you have engineered subside. In the last year I have blessed many times the day you picked on Dexter Beef. More power to your elbow!

That's a very kind thing to say Beryl thank you.
The French eating our best gourmet beef! What a nice thought. Dexter Beef has a fantastic future ahead because it's so tasty, we've just got to stop it being corrupted by excessive size and diluting the flavour I think. I'd love to see a DB standard, not breeding, for the beef itself. How it is reared, weaned, fed, treated, slaughered. That's what I think.
