We have decided to move to France and I would love to take my small Dexter herd ( 9 ) with me ,however I'm not sure if it would be practical.
Does anyone know if Dexter's can be fairly easily sourced in France ?? And of course the kind of prices.
As yet I haven't looked into the cost and paperwork involved ,obvioulsy nothing can happen until the F & M crisis is over anyway.
Any experiences and/or advice greatly received

Check the internet. I think there is a website for a French Dexter Breeder's Assoc.

Found this site: http://www.chez.com/ferm/. Not Dexters but they may be able to help.

Hi Kativa,
Get in touch with Di Smith of Moomin Dexters as I know she has exported cattle from her farm near Dover. It may be a while before exports from the UK can resume because of foot and mouth but she may have a few contacts in France.

Hi Jo,
let me know how you get on! I hold the dream that we will one day get to France. Trouble is my herd is much bigger, and I don't want to leave anyone behind!
I may be wrong, but I think it was Kate Reed who was on this site previously as she had already moved to France. Di Smith certainly was linked with this post.
If all stays as it is now re F&M I think exports will resume at approx March 2008.

Thanks Stew
We have thought about it on and off for quite a few years and have now decided to stop talking and start walking....
You can get so much more for your money and of course it's all relative but we want to be mortgage free and enjoy our lives , afterall life is not a rehearsal.
I hope you can find the time to move..oh and thanks for the tip about the rugby .......
