I've just come of the phone to the afore mentioned company. They are a smallish slaughter house in North Wales and I've sent a Dexter to them before.
In the next couple of months they are going to be able to kill cattle over 30 months.
They genuinly don't know at this stage what they are going to have to charge.
To kill and deliver to a butcher an animal under 30 months their charge is a hundred pounds. Any idea as to a guesstermet as to what the extra charge for an over 30 month is likely to be ?

My abbatoir/butcher charge an extra £50, on top of £150 for over 30 months which includes maturing in bagged primal cuts, then cutting as required. But they have also started charging extra for vacuum packing 10p per kg, labelling 10p and also extra for sausages and burgers so until I send something it is devilish difficult to work out what the final price will be.

Would it be possible for those who have a slaughterhouse that does over 30 months to post here the costs etc. I'm sure it may be useful for all, especially those selling meat on a regular basis.

I haven't got the breakdown to hand but for two not very
big steers the invoice came to £406 which nearly caused me
to choke!

That was Ensors in the Forest of Dean.

John Scott Meats (Paisley)
Killing £58.50
OTM kill charge £10
Cattle levy £4.57
Chilling charge £5 per week
Farmers Market vacuum packing 77p per kilo - 204 kg = £157.70

This was much more reasonable than the local (Lockerbie) abattoir dealing with an under 24 month animal!
