I,m not sure if this is in the right section but I'm looking to loan or purchase a young entire male dexter.
It must be in the North Wales area and at a price that I can aford to put it into the freezer after it has put two dexters in the family way. :D
The cows are none short and the animal doesn't have to have papers.

Have you looked on the bull section of the Cattle For Sale link on this site? My geography of Wales is hazy but there is a young bull advertised for £180 in Ceredigion, which seems very reasonable in price and possibly not too far from you.

I've been scanning the section for months but without any joy Louisa. I can't even recall an advert from North Wales for any dexters at all, let a lone for an entire male.:(

The ad is still there, placed March 07. Rocky Mountain, red, short, birth notified. Born May 06 so ready for work now. £180. 01974 272577
There is another one in Carmarthenshire, also ad placed March 07, but not so cheap & cheerful

Might I suggest you ring around the local Dexter breeders and ask if they have a suitable animal? I'm sure the Dexter Society could help you with local contacts.

Unfortunately the location of that particular bull was 96 miles away from home, but without having seen it, it was certainly the right price.

Well, I don't think 96 miles is an unreasonable distance to travel for a bull. I thought mine was the original shoestring enterprise but the last 2 bulls to join my herd have been located over 350 miles from home and both beasts were worth the journey. I have hired out bulls in the past further than 96 miles from home!
