Hi from NZ
When I got my first Dexters in the UK they were Cobden (Cobthorn) bred (from the Osbornes in the Forest of Dean). Much better than anything I have seen so far in NZ and I was wondering if anyone still has stock and is selling semen for export? Any help appreciated.
Peter

I suspect you are thinking of Castlemears. I shall be talking to Bill Osborne who is still breeding very good Dexters, and will ask him to reply, if he hasn’t already spotted this.

Yes it was Bill Osborne but he actually sold me Cobden cows not Castlemears (which I assume are Cobden derived).

Hello Peter hope you are enjoying life in N.Z. gales of 70-80 mph and floods over here. The prefix of the cows you bought from us is Cobthorn bred by Andrew Sheppy. The only Cobthorn bull we know of that is available through A.I. is Cobthorn Dannyboy his owner is Stuart Tarrant ,who can be contacted by Email stuart.tarrant@btinternet.com Hope this helps Best Wishes Sue Osborne

Good heavens, this thread was starting to sound like that song which used the British weather forecasts put to music :D
PS It's 8'C and cloudy but the sun is peeking through here and there. Expecting showers.

Cobthorn Danny Boy is on the Australian AI list, from Progenetics.

Thanks for that - I can't find an AI webpage for Progenetics can you provide a link?

In our Australian bull catalogue, the advertised mobile for Progenetics is 0418 644 680, and the Fax is 02 45731021. There is a website, it gives Grant Chalk's name, so I am not speaking out of school, but most of what I found on his sight is to do with Arab horses. Cobthorn Danny Boy has a website also, easier to get using his name rather than Apple Dexters.
I prefer a longer pedigree personally, but a prominent person in our association told me she had her best ever calves from Danny Boy. I wouldn't know if he was tested to meet NZ quarantine requirements. Good Luck, Margaret W

Hi there, I have not received any emails from NZ. You will find a photo of Cobthorn Dannyboy on my website: www.appledexters.co.uk ,as well as contact information.
Yes, I have his semen for sale ex UK. As well as Progetics from Australia where his offspring recently won two blue ribbons and a reserve championship. His offspring are also regular show winners in UK. If you send me an email address and a telephone no I will respond before Tuesday after which I shall be overseas for two weeks.
Stuart
