Happy New Year to you all
This is our first posting and it is to say thank you for all the wonderful information and advice you have given to us. We are new to farming this summer, we now have a few pigs, sheep and our treasured three Dexter girls. We have used this site time and time again for reference and learned a lot from you, both in a pro-active and re-active way. It has taken me a while to register properly and there has been many a time when I wanted to make a response or ask a questionm well theres no stopping me now!!! :;):

Go for it Happy Holidays. Ask away. There are plenty of people available to come up with an answer. :)

Are your Dexters long or short legged? Horned or polled? Do you know where to go to find out about a bull for breeding them later? What breeds of pigs and sheep do you have?

Shamed by the fact that you have had a response from NZ and Canada but none from Britain I thought I'd better dive in (as usual) despite the fact that we are in Wales. Happy New Year and welcome. This is the place to be if you have any queries, want to float ideas etc about you Dexters.

If I was to have placed a bet for any reply, it would have been from you three!! Thank you for your time. All our animals are rehomed and/or rejects, just the way we like it( for some stupid reason one evening on a vacation, thats the way we choose to go?! ) I like the extra challenge, no time and hard graft - stubborn fool.
All the animals are now friendly, touchable, hand feeding and happy. Our Dexters came from a herd, very people shy, nervous and not at all what you would want as a first timer. We were let down at the last minute, not what the children wanted to hear, so we went to down the herd dispersal route the very next day. Mum of 5yrs (very dark dunn) and her 2month calf, she's black and a black 12 month heifer. All are non short and we love them dearly. :D

Sounds like a lovely start to your herd.

I was only first to answer, because I'm awake when you guys are sleeping.
