Well, its hold breath and cross fingers time. The first TB test after compulsory slaughter takes place this coming week. Send valium/ strychnine :p (it's for me not the cows!!) in time for Thursday's reading.

Thank you, both, so much for your good wishes. The Dexters are in now in preparation for tomorrow, all neatly in their correct pens but Apollo decided he would take my mind off everything else in the best way possible by creating chaos. He put his nose through a heavy barrier, lifted it up and dumped it on the floor, letting all the cows and calves on that side of the barn in together. Bless...... Two hours later and peace has been restored and the barriers all firmly tied down. By the way, I've just noticed one of his Gt Gt Grandparents is Woodmagic Pine Martin, would he get his thoughtful ways from him do you think?

wishing you the very best of luck. Has any one else contacted you, who is also coping with a similar situation, because sadly you cannot be the only dexter owner undergoing this trauma?

Sylvia, I have always said that only a sense of humour enabled me to retain my sanity at times, but I think you deserve a medal for keeping yours, in such circumstances. I can assure you I cannot remember Pine Martin ever creating mayhem of that order! Incidentally, his mum was my favourite cow ever, with a wonderful temperament and loved by all who met her.

Well, that's over. 64 Dexters tested on severe test. 5 Inconclusives, 3 of which would have been clear on standard test. 2 inconclusives now on the second of the 3 strikes and you're out procedure. One of these is my first homebred Dexter Sophie SoSweet who really lives up to her name. Life now returns to something approaching normal until January when it all starts again.

Well done Sylia,
Not a perfect result perhaps but a lot better than it might have been if the disease was spreading at the same rate as before your last test. Let us hope that they inconclusives clear as they often will, and that you do not have to lose any more.

So sorry it didn’t go that bit better, I echo Duncan’s comments and hope next time gives you the all clear. I hope too, you have plenty to keep you occupied in the nicest way meanwhile; time can drag under such circumstances.
