I have had an enquiry from a Brit couple who now live in Normandy and would like to buy Dexters.Does anyone know of any contacts in France. I know they could get some from Germany but a closer contact would be best if possible.
Does anyone have inside info on when the live export ban will be lifted, i think foot and mouth has long gone now dont you!!!

Sorry I can't help with any french connections, but I do know that it is BSE regulations and not F & M which is preventing exports. My own guess is that it will be several years yet before we get easy live export. Easing of the restrictions on meat export will come first, and I cannot see that happening till the OTMS scheme is wound up.
I also beleive that there are folks on the contintent watching very closely and even looking hopefully at our stock with a view to getting animals exported as soon as they can.

Hello
Having moved to France two years ago and selling my small dexter herd in England due to the Export ban - I would love to find some dexters in France to set up my herd again and promote the breed over here.
I bought a Normandy house cow but its just not the same !!
We bought a 70 hectare farm with charolais suckers and texel cross ewes. Fantastic life - very different from England - money as always in farming - a struggle.
Would love to hear from anyone who has any export news and or knows anyone with dexters in France - a few in Normandy I have found but we are along way from there - Dept 03 Allier in Central France !!

Dexters have already been exported to France. It is not at all difficult to France, just a clear TB test in isolation and an export certificate from the ministry that is all. I live near Dover and anybody is welcome to come and see my herd the good, the bad and the ugly! I can show you what not to buy! It is very important that we get some quality animals out as foundation stock.
Contact me through this websites email - I don't want to put my email address here for public view!
Regulations are on the DEFRA website under the BSE bit.
