For the past few years I have either been away when the AGM was held or it was to far to travel in one day, this is the first year that it would have been easy for most of us northern's to get to the AGM and I know quite a few people had planned to attend, but as York sale is our Dexter Sale we feel that we should surrport it.

So I hope all the members attending the AGM will request that this does not happen again, One council member did reply to my question as to why it was on the same weekend when this was discussed several years ago and agreed that the to should not clash, that Yok could move their weekend!!!!!!!!!!

So please as this situration only occurs occasionly as York is alway around the 7/8/9 Oct can the DCS bear this in mind.

I would also have liked to go to the AGM this year but had already entered sheep for York when the AGM papers arrived. I have emailed my apologies and pointed out that several years ago assurances were given that this clash would not happen again. I have yet to receive a response.

I have just heard today that next year's AGM has already been arranged on the same day as York Sale. York sale is not just dexters, it is other breeds of cattle, pigs, sheep, poultry, waterfowl and horses and cannot be "re-arranged" !
Whether there are disagreements with the auctioneers or not, and I support Duncan's comments about some diplomatic action, it is the Northern breeders that are being penalised. York is a big sale, and is an important gathering for many Northern Dexter breeders, both socially and as an opportunity to sell stock. Yet some potential purchasers will not be there because of the AGM.
Many of us also want to be involved with the Society, and yet cannot now get to one of the Society's most important events.

Surely a date for the AGM can still be changed, if given 12 months notice?!

I thank every body who turned up and a very BIG THANCKS TO THE MIDLAND GROUP FOR THE SHOW OF ANIMALS that they put on, as it could not have happend with out them. I think it went of well, and am finding it dificult to put in to words as they are a problem to me . Thanks to Chris for his input here, words must indeed be very difficult at this time. The AGM was a great success largely due to the show of animals in front of us, the only trouble was that there were so many cattle to see and so many people to speak to that we could have done with a week instead of a day. Many thanks to all who helped make it such a good day.

Although there was no great shouting match over the clash of dates I am certain that council will have taken on board that it should not happen ever again. My own hope is that they will manage some real diplomacy to sort out the differences with the York Auctioneers and get the dates and inspections sorted out to everyones satisfaction.

Dear Chris,

we all wanted to be at the AGM in memory of Heather and the brilliant work that you have both done for the breed. I am glad it was such a success. It was an apparent oversight that should not happen again, by the sound of it, just unlucky that it was this year.
Regards to you all
Penny

ps Nutty is as gorgeous as ever!
