could someone give me the Dexter Councils definition of 'serious breeding' I think we breed responsibly but the rules are becoming more and more like the Kennel club,
as farmers we have to be serious about what we produce and our Dexters are GENUINE dual purpose cattle producing quality milk and quality beef,
this is our main source of income and with ever rising DCS costs we have to consider very carefully before registering our calves.
regards Sue & Bill Osborne, (2 more jeremiahs) Castlemears Dexters, Forest of Dean.
ps. Beryl you know as well as we do that the majority of council members are strongly discouraged from talking to members.
Which way to go

I never thought I would defend the K.C but its far more lenient than the dexter society re registering dogs, you have up to a year to register a litter of puppies, as long as a dog is registered you can breed from it, all tests are curently voluntary, now don't get me wrong I actually dont have a problem with DNA cattle, I do it with my dogs for peace of mind as not everyone out there is as honest as the day, but honesty is still required when registering a calf, and sometimes the most honest people are the ones who pay
because they are so honest or actually make a mistake on their birth notification, I think its just not ON to say if some one has made a mistake on their bith notification card, it is sent back and treated as never been received, of all the new members the DCS has I wonder how many we lose each year because they feel they have been treated badly. Maybe the answer is to make the registration cards simplier and put a copy of a completed one front and back in the D.C.S. bulletin near the fees as an example
