Due to the new TB rules and the pressure on dexter keepers who have no bull, now may be the time for me to enter a new heading on the menu list " Bulls for hire"
I think the best way would be to name the said bull along with its sire and dam, plus colour, type (short non short) the owners details and how much is charged.I would probably remove each listing every 6 months to keep it fresh and anyone wanting to can relist.
Comments please !!! you must all know what each of you would like to see.

Hi Mark

that sounds like a good idea to me, would there be room to put things like, only available times, and area you are happy for your bull to travel to, save having to say no when someone asks to loan a bull out of your area. :)

Hi Mark,

This is perfect for me, would save me a lot of searching. Perhaps you could add if you were able to take the girls to the bull too. Thanks.

Would it be possible to add some form of "flag" so the owner could indicate if the bull was available, or out on hire?

Excellent idea. I would only add that the bull owner should put which TB testing cycle they are in & that potential hirers, if out of the immediate locality, should provide the same information on enquiring. My vet has made it very clear that my bull should only be allowed into 4 year TB testing zones.

I think that the herd disease status would also be an important thing for bull owners to advertise. Bull vaccination status and general herd biosecurity is becoming more and more important to cattle breeders.
