Coughing heifer
Hi, I am hoping that someone can give me advice on a heifer with a cough. She has developed a wheezy cough whenever she breaks into a trot!! I wormed them with pour on wormer in November and was going to do them with a drench for liver fluke in Feb. We are in a fluke area and she hasn't been wormed for them since feb last year, could it be this? She seems ok in herself if a little quiet but she should be three months pregnant so I thought that that could account for the cuddly heifer we seem to have now. :D

Without knowing any details of your herd etc it would be dangerous to offer specific advice, except to say that I think you should be getting informed veterinary advice from your own vet. Sorry not to be more helpful, I really do think you need your own vets input with this one. Liver fluke do not cause coughing, and it would be very unusual to pick up significant lungworm burden after november in UK in normal conditions.

Just thought I would let you know - the cough is nothing to worry about just a legacy of having been a snotty nosed yearling! and it wasn't sore feet but a sprain from skidding down a mound of earth (called cow mountain because they love playing on it ??? ) that I have now fenced off. He said that she was in very good condition and healthy. So all's well that ends well.
