Dave Dawson passed away peacefully on Monday 18th December.
The funeral will take place at 10.30am on Thurs 28th December @ The Methodist Chapel at Yarm, North Yorkshire. At Daves request there are to be no flowers, with any donations going to Cancer Research.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dave a few times later in his life, through Dexters of course, on the show scene and at meetings,a typical yorkshire chap, never one to hold back on his thoughts. Thanks Dave.
Out thoughts are with Mertyl, and Daves family.

I would echo Mark's words about Dave. He was a stalwart of the Northern scene, who loved his stock.Beneath that gruff exteria was a heart of gold - a keen competitor but one who was always prepared to help. Real characters are few and far between but in Dave we have lost a truly genuine one.
I hope to be in Yarm to pass on my condolences directly.

We have come back from Daves funeral today. It was clear from the attendance what a popular, and well respected man he was.I have only known Dave for about six years since I started judging northern shows. He was an instantly likeable man, bluntly truthful (a spade very much a spade!),interesting to talk to,and with a great sense of humour. He was a great showman ,with his Lonsdale Dexters being some of the best cattle I have had the pleasure of judging. He produced many top quality cattle which won championships at major county and national shows including Great Yorkshire and the Royal. We have the privilage of owning some Lonsdale Dexters having bought a few of them from Dave and Myrtles reduction sale at York in 2003.The quality was apparent from the number of people bidding for Lonsdale stock, and also from the prices which averaged near 1000gns.He and Myrtle were also extreemly generous in DONATING a high quality show heifer for the Northern groups 2003 raffle, which raised alot of money.I will greatly miss seeing Dave at the shows and York auctions, he was a great man and it was a privilage to have known him.Our thoughts and prayers are with Myrtle at this time.
