Just finished reading "My Love Affair With Dexters" and was wondering how Beryl is doing and does she still have the Woodmagic herd.

Beryl does indeed still have the Woodmagic herd, though she is getting less mobile and now has a very good helper in to take care of the cattle each day.

Quite a few of us took the chance to visit her when we were in the southwest for the AGM, and were pleased to see her in such good form. I don't think even Beryl would argue with the statement that though the body is getting slower (dare I suggest she is well into 80's?) but the mind is as sharp and quick as ever.

Her cattle were looking well and there are quite a few which show every sign of what she has been aiming at, non-bulldog carriers but of traditional Dexter size.

Now is the time for any of you who have not read the book to buy two, one for yourself and one as a Christmas present.

Seriously the book would be a great Christmas gift for any Dexter enthusiast, see the earlier posting here for details of ordering for UK.

Duncan,

You asked for feedback on the book.

Sorry its been so long not much time to read!!! Would have read it in one sitting if I could have but December usually brings me a full clinic.

It was an absolute diamond of a read. Taught me "what a Dexter is", reminded me of a few of my own farm experiences and brought a tear to the eye as well.

What an amazingly rich life this great lady has lead so far and a great advertisment for farmers and farming to boot!
:D
