Cows outside now, at least in these awful times, we can all take pleasure in walking round the fields admiring those delightful little cows. I hope all of you are well and staying safe.

We are blessed as owners and breeders to be able to just about work as normal on our smallholdings, I for one am very grateful.

Without curlews and cows I'd probably have gone insane by now...

I agree, I have my Dexters, a handful of Herdwicks and some acres to play with, birdsong in the mornings...it isn't all bad.No pics of a curlew though we do get the odd ones.Bluebells and Cuckoo flower.

Re: Pleasure in difficult times
On Saturday, I put two heifers in a field where the 2019 ewe lambs have over wintered. This morning, I find the gate open and the gimmers and heifers in the next field with in-lamb ewes. The gimmers came rushing back, almost as if saying "It wasn't us, honest, the Dexters led us astray, we're good girls really". The heifers came to the gateway, stopped and looked at me. The conversation seemed to go along the lines of "Is she mad at us?" "Is she going to shout at us?" "Do you think if we sneaked through the gateway, she wouldn't notice we'd been out?" I pretended not to see them, so they came back quietly. The expressions on their faces were a picture.
