Usually we bring the herd in several times during the calving period with recently born calves to tag, disbud and castrate in a pen and race, but would be much less stressful for mums and calves if we can do this out in the field. Are there contractors who do catching, tagging, paste disbudding etc?

Have you tried doing them in the field in the first 24 hours after birth? I haven't used dehorning paste but in my experience ear tags and a castration ring are dead easy to do before the calves have figured out how to run. Given that you're looking for a contractor, I take it you know all too well what it's like tying to catch them in the field once they're a few days old!
