Not dealt with them myself - contacted them about fifteen years ago to find out more about the scheme but they never got back to me. This used to be associated with the RBST. Is anyone on this discussion board having any dealings with this organisation? I am seeing 'mutterings' on the internet that all is not well with regard to pricing.

We're regularly sending cattle via TBMM. Slaughtered at Mutch Meats in Witney where they are graded. No slaughter charges, only a payment of £16 per animal (includes 20% VAT). Sent 3 x steers on Thursday, all graded at O+4L, average d/w 202kgs per animal. Expect £3.80/£3.90kg.

TBMM no longer associated with RBST.

Thanks for the prompt response. What sort of weights/prices are you averaging for heifers? Do they also take older males/females?

Those are good prices Alison, I suppose its all about the distance to travel to get there. How quick do they pay?

Slaughtering heifers as well. For example: 3 x heifers sent in February, all graded O-4L @ £3.80kg:
1 x 23 months = 141.6kgs @ £538.08
1 x 22 months = 148.5kgs @ £564.30
1 x 21 months = 139.7kgs @ £530.86

2 x heifers sent mid March, each graded O-4L @ £3.80kg
1 x 22 months = 165.60kgs @ £646.02
1 x 22 months = 154.30kgs @ £586.34

2 x steers sent mid April, each graded O-4L @ £3.80kg
1 x 24 months = 195.00kgs @ £741.00
1 x 23 months = 188.70kgs @ £717.06

The problem with grading deductions of between £1/kg and 5p/kg can be made. Accurate assessment is essential to avoid deductions, which can reduce the price drastically.

The TBMM levy is £16.00. I forgot the MLC levy of £5.58 (inc 20% VAT) per animal.

Will take up to animals of 30 months only.

Rob's journey is 24 miles each way to Mutch Meats. Cost of travelling can be prohibitive and will need to be taken into consideration. We deliver to Witney by 9am on a Thursday morning.

The butcher makes payment direct to vendor. It was originally taking up to at least seven weeks to receive payment by cheque. After much discussion, we now receive payment within three weeks and butcher paying via BACS.

Dexters must be birth notified or registered with DCS.

Thanks for the info Alison those are very respectable weights and prices. Perhaps not putting one's heifers in calf quite so soon may be of benefit to some? How do you see the routes for disposing of OTM stock developing in the future?
