The Jersey Society has recently had it's own troubles and I cancelled my membership as a result. The corruption has since been sorted out and a few people taken down a peg or two, after the appointment of a proactive president.Jac wrote:Unfortunately the membership has only got itself to blame in permitting the non-publication of minutes/comprehensive details of the meetings. This does not make for a great situation when elections are looming and also encourages inertia as nobody is accountable - for good or bad. I do recall when Council were deposed back then that we were told we couldn't have the minutes published with some foggy excuse about disclosure and the 'legal position' well how come the Jersey Society produces a much more comprehensive summary with names? It is not even in a members area.

'A Trustee said this, a Trustee said that...' I've never heard the like!
I would also point out that we have a number of volunteers on various committees but there are no minutes or even regular briefings from those committees either. There should be a briefing on progress (or lack of it) at every Council meeting and conveyed to the membership as part of the comprehensive Council summary. Doing good work silently behind the scenes if so we need to know about it?
Aside: I cannot help but compare from a professional point of view the differences between us and the Jerseys. Time to return to the kitchen table or move forwards again?

Yes, the politics in Charities are renowned for being the worst of any type of business. But I do admire the way the minute summaries are laid out and explained and I see no reason why this cannot be adopted by our Society. The Jersey Society had the foresight to develop a strategy for the improvement of the profitability and productivity of the breed regardless of their present troubles.
Just catching up on last years accounts and having just completed my purchase ledger the reality of what my lot have cost in the past 12 months has hit.
