We have used prids a few times over the years to synchronise bulling for AI/service, or in any females who have been difficult to get incalf - they have proved successful in most cases.
Have not used one for a while so I can't remember how long they stay in for (I think 12 days from memory)
We usually cut the prid attachment string off quite short after the vet has inserted the prid, or else another cow can stand on (and remove!) the prid when the (pridded) cow is lying down. The prid requires quite a firm pull to remove it. Cow usually bulling within 48hrs after removal.
Best Wishes
Lisa
P.S Prids are not to be used like the human coil as Needles Hall Viola can testify who once retained one for 2 months due to stupid owners lack of memory (stupid owner had recently given birth at the time & 2months is a very conservative statement of truth!)
