Judy Knight RIP

Sad news that Judy Knight (Knightsway)passed away this morning.Unfortunately there is little information yet but i am sure more details will be forthcoming.

I think myself and 400 other people will remember her dispersal sale in detail, what a day and a way of showing the credit she deserved for her years of successfull showing and breeding.

That is very sad news. I had a lot of respect and admiration for Judy. In the show ring she was always professional and dignified if she stood above or below you in the judging line up, pleasant in victory and gracious in defeat (the Knightsway Cattle were nearly always top of the line up however) Judy's dispersal sale was a date that will (possibly forever) be remembered and talked about in Dexter Breed History. Many breed records were totally smashed that day, fabulous cattle with prices to match. Judy sat next to the auctioneer and watched her wonderful cattle sold which must have been incredibly hard and painful to do, but she did it in her usual professional manner. Judy was unbelievably strong and positive through several very serious illnesses, very inspiring, intelligent and with a no nonsense approach. In the Dexter world her herd will be remembered as being one of the all time greats, what better accolade to have.

Very sad day what a lady !!!!

This is really sad news. Judy was a lovely lady. I went to see her at home when I first started with Dexters and she was so kind and informative with her advice. I was at her herd dispersal but didn't come away with any cattle, just her Dexter crush and some leather halters in the hope it would inspire some of my cattle.

Together with my family, we always enjoyed talking to her at the shows and I was delighted when she came to see my herd once, I felt deeply honoured.

A wonderful, gracious, kind and gentle lady. A sad loss indeed.

A service to Celebrate her life at St John the Baptist Church at Boldre, Lymington Hampshire SO41 5PG on 18th March 2014 at 2.30pm and later at Elmers Court, Lymington.

Family flowers only please, but donations via FW House & Sons of Lymington
33-34 St. Thomas' Street, Lymington, Hampshire, SO41 9NE

All donations will be split between Oakhaven Hospice and Canine Partners".

We have come back from the service to celebrate Judy's life today. The service was a true celebration of her life, very personal, uplifting, and positive. Her Son Tim Knight gave a wonderful Eulogy to her full of funny personal family tales about Judy. Of course her Dexter's were part of the Eulogy, not just their success but the personal side too. Her son told the story of a neighbour phoning Judy in the middle of the night to report that Paddy the bull had escaped, apparently Judy walked up the lane in her nightie, dressing gown and wellie's banged her stick on the ground and said very firmly "Paddy get back to bed!". He dually walked home.
It was very clear the level of respect and warmth people had for Judy by the large number of people present.
In her last few years Judy was very involved in fundraising and puppy fostering for the "Canine Partners" charity. In addition to the several hundreds of people in attendance inside the church were six impeccably behaved dogs from Canine Partners, which was a lovely tribute to Judy.
