couriers

i am just about/ want to sell meat by post. have looked into the regs regarding this (guarantee next day etc..) but find options for couriers really limited. does anyone use a reliable firm - apart from paracelforce who want am arm and a leg (£12/3 per parcel)! simon

Couriers who will take perishables are very limited and variable, they tend to be cheaper the more business you can give them so if you're only sending a few parcels it may be best using a service such as www.parcelmonkey.co.uk to get a better deal with the big players. If you are dealing with higher volumes you're probably better finding a local courier franchise to give you better rates (as you'll be a relatively big fish to them whereas you'd be a tadpole to the likes of DHL). DHL domestic, incidently, have recently been amalgamated with HDNL under the name 'Yodel'. They are terrible at delivering things so avoid them like the plague. DHL international, on the other hand, are excellent, and I recently sent two parcels to the USA on a two-day airmail service (via parcelmonkey), but they delivered one of them within 24 hours!

We have had a good relationship with uk mail. i think we were on 9.80 for upto 10kg. they where pretty good, parcels where lost but very few. local driver was excellent and helpful. the computer booking form in the end was their weak point but i still use them now and then.

parcel force, i would not pay in in buttons. city link did not want to deal with small companies.

Hi All,

This thread is over a year old now so I wondered if anyone has any more up to date advice/experiences on the best way to send chilled/frozen meat round the country?
