We have a bull - Hedgerow Silver Birch (Dun) A very short - non short - if that makes sense. His sire is:-
Sire : M4203 - Woodmagic Weasel 2nd (UK/VN0708/00125) [Black]
Dam:- Dam : F14344 - Woodmagic Mollyhawk 2nd (RB-18P) [Dun]
so Woodmagic all the way. Was wondering what the best female line would be for this bull. I particularly like that fact that he is such a short legged non short - so no bull dog gene. He has produced some really beefy stock. We have had mainly duns from his but quite few blacks as well.

Re: Woodmagic Lines
Hello Nikola,
About the duns:
A dun bull will give only dun ofspring when mated to a dun (100% dun) (exeption: a dun with red recessive mated to a dun with red recessive will give 25% red)
or mated to black or red with the dun-recessive gene (50% dun)
So when you want dun coloured calves: use dun dams or with dun ancestors.
I think a short legged non-short is the ideal Dexter. To become offspring of the same size I would never mate this bull to a short legged cow!
To become offspring from te same size you have to use cows which are non-tall non-shorts. Say about 40-41 inch.
But thats my theoretical approach. I have not a long time of breeding experience and pure Woodmagic lines are not available in Holland.
I hope I get some responce to correct me if I'm wrong! It would be helpfull to keep my focus wide open!
