Hello
I wondered if any of our members who produce grass fed beef are members of the
Pasture-Fed Livestock Association c.i.c and if so have they found it beneficial.
If you haven't heard of this ass Visit: http://www.pasturefed.org and have a look and see what you think

Great idea, and a darn sight better than Certified Organic, or at least SA, IMHO.
I enquired when they first started but didn't go for it because at the time they weren't clear about the charges and the butchers I sell to hadn't heard of them.

Me too, although I was sceptical about the actual real benefits of paying for such things. If you don't get involved you can end up paying for the sake of it and if you do you might end up putting a lot of work into promoting the association for the benefit of others where you could put the same amount of effort into developing and promoting your own business but actually then have something to show for it. I'm all for it in principle but I didn't want to end up just paying more subs and increasing my costs that little bit more, as with many clubs you can be a part of.Broomcroft wrote:Great idea, and a darn sight better than Certified Organic, or at least SA, IMHO.

ETA - I'm of the mind that you're better off just getting on with it, rather than spending lots of time going on talks & farm walks, most of which is irrelevant because every farm is different. Some people seem to spend all their time reseraching & never actually getting down to it.
