Naming Systems/Structurs

I am interested to know other peoples systems for naming.
We originally thought of using flower names and starting with A for 2012 but I am mindful that Beryl had M's, S's and P's
As these are 100% Woodmagic is there a benefit to future tracking of sticking with their primary letters ie Woodmagic Moorhen's heifer would be something like Blackmagic 'Marigold' as an example.
