Hi,

What is the current blutongue situation in the UK?
From my perspective if I wish to import cattle to the R O I they require veterinary certification that they were vaccinated prior to becoming impregnated.Do vets vaccinate routinely or is it the farmers themselves?

Glad you brought this up!

Most of us do it ourselves I think - but it has gone very quiet and I am starting to wonder if we really need to keep it up?

What is the opinion?

Why vaccinate for a problem that isnt there?

if we suddenly got cases down south then i might look at it.

i hate gathering the cattle for jagging, it stresses us all.

I vaccinated this year and will do so again next year. I live in the south so would have little warning. The lack of disease incidence in the UK could of course be due to the success of the vaccination programme.

We gave up but still do our sheep. Will do again if they have problems down south.
