What's the best age to show a dexter? As a yearling, or as a heifer, a cow/bull? Are they like some breeds when they are in their prime at 3 year? Is there show life short?

The best one to show will be which ever animal has the best conformation, regardless of type age or sex.

Some judges will prefer the short leg and some the non short but in theory the best conformation should always be at the top of the line.

I understand that - conformation is the key as with anything. But what I mean is, can you show an older dexter? Is it true they no longer look as good?

There have been many "old" Champion animals. Aiskew Chunky won the Royal show as a 10 year old cow,Moomin Jenny won the Royal show and World Congress show at a similar age.Judy Knight used to show a 14 year old cow that won many championships (Woodtown Sarah?)
Age really is irrelevent,if the animal is good it will win regardless of being 6 mths old or 10 years plus.Sorry I can't remember any other names of animals (there are many more examples) that is just my own age failing me!!!!
