hi
i sent a dealer to buy a cow and calf for me which i hadn't seen, he said most of the dexters weren't much to look at and most of the singles fetched up to £200, i paid £430 for nonshort 2nd calver with a wonderfull nonshort heifer calf at foot. The cow is not the prettiest by any stretch of the imagination but she obviously produces some great calves so hopefully she will work out ok. She is a bit jumpy but with a bit of perserverance, she will come good.

Sylvia, sorry to hear of the sale results, you must feel pretty gutted. When we sold our girls and they hadn't yet been collected people were offering more money so they could have them immediately. Something to do with the bt zones I think. Before they were sold we had some ridiculous and insulting offers. What did surprise me was the amount of people who wanted them without even seeing them. The worst thing for me though is that they have gone. To add insult to injury, due to the credit crunch, my husbands move to sunnier climates is on hold so he has got total control of the European market only, not international. Still my girls have gone to a fabulous new home and that makes all the difference.
