Stafford County Show

Just happen to be right out of my area yesterday and visited the Stafford county show and was very disappointed to see only 7 dexters exibited, is this normal for sugggest a big show, we get a lot more at our little local show, I was really looking forward to seeing dexters from another part of the country.

I have loads in the forum about Bulldogs, and I know how not to get them, but what exactly is a bulldog? Is it a deformed calf, is it a bag of jelly or does it just affect the cow by making her sterile. is it sterile itself like an Ass or a mule?

Hi Ann,i think it fair to say that this year for showing has been somewhat difficult.
The Royal Welsh had no dexter entries, approx 5 other shows have cancelled dexter classes yet Mid Devon a few days ago attracted nearly 50, earlier in the year Bath and West attracted 40. It really is unpredictable although as more areas join the protection zone then hopefully things can return to being a bit more normal.

There were no Dexters at the West Mids Show in Shropshire this year, not one. Everything else was there though. This is quite a large show.

Hi Isabelle - Off topic really, but we had a bulldog calf which I believe was typical. It was aborted in the barn at about 4 months I think. It reminded me of Pinky and Perky, a bit like a piggy football with the nose pushed in and turned up, no legs, just feet attached directly to the balloon and prbably weighed about 5-7 kg (a guess). The mother just ignored it. It was dead when I found it and was probably born dead. Having a bulldog can affect the cow but in this instance it didn't.
