Wish I'd known about withdrawing some vaccine whilst in the fridge to save for next dose in 3 weeks time Di. I was told that once the bottle is opened it would only keep for 8 hours - nothing about keeping if it was still at fridge temperature. All cows and sheep now safely vaccinated - well cows are haf way there.
Twins still fine - but the little one has a large hard growth on one side of her chin. Vet thought calf diphtheria and I have given pen and strep for five days but growth no smaller. Calf bright as a button, suckling, eating and cudding happily. Has anyone anyother suggestions of what it might be or should I get the vet back?

BT vaccine day tomorrow!
Hi Erica,
My Indian vet says OK to do this. He has had a lot of exprience in India with vaccines and said it is the temperature sensitivity of the BT vaccine that is important. You want to hear his comments about the way we handle F&M in this country!!! His father is chief government vet in India and he has been brought up with tropical diseases, we are lucky.
VACCINE GUNS - THE STERIMATIC ADAPTER I SPOKE OF YESTERDAY DOES NOT FIT THE INTERVET BT GUN. TRIED THIS AM. BUY THE STERIMATIC GUN INSTEAD. IT IS VERY GOOD. DID THE SHEEP WITH IT THIS AM. I AM GOING TO HAVE SERIOUS WORDS WITH INTERVET TOMORROW AS I THINK THEY ARE ON TO A GOOD THING SELLING VACCINE GUNS THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO STERILISE NEEDLES BETWEEN EACH JAB AND NO SIMPLE SYSTEM TO DO SO.
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AN INTERVET GUN SUGGEST YOU BUY THE STERICAPS AND IMPROVISE like we did with first batch of cows.
As I said before be careful of cross contamination.
