I'm fairly certain Margaret that he only started suckling on Friday. Previously I had always been greeted with a plaintive mini bellow as soon as he heard me coming and I would find him waiting in the corner of the pen where I always fed him and looking 'empty'. Saturday AM no call, not in his corner but playing elsewhere in the pen and looking nicely full already. He'd worked up to 5 pints morning and evening before that and always looked as if he needed them, I don't think he had been doubling up before that.

This turned up in a Valentines card yesterday :D

Try it to the tune of 'Little white bull' if you are old enough to remember that !!

Once upon a time there was a little red bull,
Unloved by his Mum at birth - how really so cruel.

What to do? There’s no other option but to make him drinks,
First one bottle, then soon another - these he gladly sinks.

Eagerly he’d slurp the lot - this little red bull,
Till his tummy showed that he was full.

So for this little bull, from a start terrible, with a Mum
horrible and no milk possible,

That this dear little chap found his way in the world
as a cute red bull.

Now to keep his tummy full, it is most probable, he’ll be
quite capable of eating things edible,

Then this dear little chap will continue to grow into
a fine red bull.

As you can see we are a romantic lot down here.
