We have just joined and we are looking around the site, its good to here ( read ) about all the things that are going on around the Dexters and the breed ( and all the gos ) but I have found that when we look at the members list and thier profile there is very little infomation.
It would be nice to know their location to get an idea of what part of the world they live, or have we joined a secret society where no one trusts any on any more.
Come on , lets have more info ...

I have to agree with Peter on this, but I suppose we have to accept that a lot of people are reluctant to have any personal info on the net. Perhaps they are not wrong, since there is so much internet activity of dubious sort and identity theft to consider. I have always used my real name, for example, whereas many members of the list do not. Being reasonably well known in the Dexter world I would just find it impossible to do things anonymously. Perhaps the price I have paid for being more open is that I can get 50 or so spam emails every day. Fortunately my email system sorts most of them into a bulk folder which I can just delete without opening.

Hi Peter

I have just posted another reply to you on a different thread and our location is found at the bottom of the reply, although it says Callington, Cornwall we are really in the lynher valley about 7 miles from Callington. So there you go, this is where we keep our herd.

Sorry Peter but the information we keep is limited for security of the users of this board, this is the 3rd discussion board we have used, the last 2 got infiltrated with spam and other nasty things. So far it has worked a treat.
As you use the site more you will find out more about the individuals and get to know them and their animals.

With respect, you have yet to indicate your location. I have the Zanfara herd in Co. Durham.

Louisa,

if you look on the member profile for Peter, you will see his location. I have just looked at the first 10 members listed, not one has stated a location in their profile, though the distinct resemblance of some names to well known Dexter prefixes gives those in the know some clues.

50 spam e-mails? I get 500+, despite having only ever published one e-mail address online they have gradually crept up in the non-published e-mail addresses I have, but the junk mail filter takes care of most of it.

We had a security debate on another forum recently where a trader did not want to publish her address because it was also her home address. It took me three clicks to find her full address & telephone number (and I am not particularly technically minded). I don't trust traders who only provide limited information, so it can work both ways.
