Hi, a few of my dexters regularly keep their winter coats. It can be down to Copper deficiency and I also believe Selenium and Molybdenum too. that is very sad to hear, if it were to happen to me I would definitely get a post mortem done for piece of mind and just in case it could be anything which could reoccur in other stock.
