Re: Society office now moved

Great how members are told after the event! When was this decided? Have the office staffed moved with the office or are the society recruiting new staff.

Re: Close the discussion board?

Personally, although i read the 'political' or council bashing posts I dont really pay much attention. This board is invalueable to new members and owners who sometimes just need a word or reassurance or advice on keeping/showing their Dexters. Please keep it going Mark! We are all here for the good...

Re: Grazing required - South Northants

How much land do you have? For the youngsters we probably only need a couple of acres. They are being weaned in July. Do you have secure fencing and a water trough in the field?

What sort of rent are you looking for? I will send a private message to you also. Thank you.

Thank you. I will let you know. Never had an IR in ten years of owning Dexters or a reactor.

Re: TB testing for shows

Just done our pre movement testing for shows only to have an inconclusive. Now for the sixty day wait for retest. Feeling worried and anxious today. Anyone else had an IR and retested clear?

Re: DEXTERS FOR AUCTION 30 APRIL 2016

Herts County Show charge winners £30 to receive their trophy and this is refunded when the cup is returned the following year. I assume that this helps towards the insurance costs. Could the Society consider this? Admitedly, you dont get to take the trophy home straoght from the show and you have to...

Re: DEXTERS FOR AUCTION 30 APRIL 2016

A good range of prices today, from 240 upto 4900 for the fabulous looking Saltaire Apple. A good crowd of people ringside with a fair few bidding. Would have loved to have bought a couple of heifers but as we have just lost half our grazing I had to leave the cheque book and trailer at home. Natasha

Grazing required - South Northants

We have just been let down on half our grazing for this year so wondering if anyone knows someone who has a couple of acres to rent in the Brackley area? I know that most farmers etc will have sorted their grazing for this year but thought I would ask anyway. The problem is that I have five young he...

Re: TB in low risk areas

This does seem rather bonkers, cattle from one year testing can test and then go to and from shows for the next 59 days without post movement testing but low risk have to test? Another bright idea from DEFRA I guess. What a blow to a lot of shows also as their numbers will be down.

Re: FABBL

Thank you for responding, it is a tricky one. We tend to have one or two steers back for the freezer to sell to family and friends or sell the steers at a year old for someone else to finish. This will literally be for three cull cows going this year as they have had problems calving, poor calves , ...

FABBL

Just out of interest, is anyone registered with Fabbl and does it guarantee higher prices when selling Dexters for meat either liveweight or deadweight? I have two or three cull cows to go this summer and am wondering whether to register with Fabbl to try and obtain a better price. Any thoughts? The...

Bucks County Show 27 August

If anyone is interested in coming to Bucks County Show held near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, they are still accepting entries. At present there are only two competitors and it would be lovely to see a few new faces at the show. There are three classes, decent prize money and a cup to be won. If an...
