Re: Haylage waste!!
Thanks for reply.
I just couldn't feed them twice a day as we also run a business. I feed them a large round bale and that lasts them 5-6 days.
I think having a larger ring will do the trick.
Well you can't say your not dedicated feeding them twice a day!!!!

Haylage waste!!
Feeding my dexters on large haylage bales in a yearling feeding ring I'm finding I'm getting a lot of waste on the floor. Being only 5'3" in diameter and a bale being 4' in diameter for the first couple of days the cows heads never go between the bars as its so close to the edge they just pull ...

Re: Mini baler and wrapping system
Very nice setup Duncan and it will defiantly pay in the long run. We are starting doing our own large bales. There's nothing quite like making your own hay, haylage or silage. This year is going to be a funny one though, weather an all!!!!! :) P.S The view from your land is breathtaking. Where about...

What pour on wormer???
Hi all.
We have been using a oral wormer on our cattle and to say it is a nightmare is an understatement.
Can anyone please recommend a good pour on wormer for cows and calves (youngest 4mths)?
Thanks

I use our kids video baby monitor. Works a treat :0)Broomcroft wrote:Good luck with that dom. I weaned my lot at Christmas, what a row, even though they were 9-10 months' old. Due to calve starting tomorrow, all inside though, fingers crossed. I wish I had a calving camera.

Re: Will clostridium vaccine last for second dose ????
I can't seem to find much info on testing our cows for BVD on the Internet. We have 4 cows and 4 calves, what is the best route for us to take ?

Re: Will clostridium vaccine last for second dose ????
Hi Duncan. I don't blame you at all for ranting I imagine all the red tape of being a vet drives you nuts! Very good advice. We use syringes and always use 1 syringe in the bottle to maintain hygiene and change needles for each animal to stop cross contamination. (We only have 8 cows) Our vets reall...

Great advice.
This is what I love about the dexter owners I chat to, their love for the animal outweighs the business side. Well maybe not everyone but the most part in my experience!!
Thanks again
